The loops are made out of very thin piano wire. This batch will be set into english oak handles, turned by me. \u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eSmall - The smallest rake tool in this collection, I use 0.5mm piano wire, tightly twisted. The diameter of the loops is approximately 9mm or 3\/8\" wide.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThese loop tools include variations in wire diameter each end. The smaller wire is 0.6mm and the larger diameter wire is 0.8mm. The loops are approximately 15mm or 5\/8\" wide.\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eThe overall length is around 6” or 155mm. The larger loops are coarser so you'd move from the large loop to the smaller loop for refining forms. \u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eI used some small brass upright supports for each loop to allow the loops themselves to remain a little bit bigger than the wire dictates but means that there is very little flex in them at all. So for their relative size they're very strong and will endure continuous raking of forms. Suitable for sculpey, oil based clays, other polymers and wax, this tool and the pitch and depth of the twists in the wire allow for a good amount of material to be refined.
