ORCA – Rusted Edition

This full-scale steel lettering set is a meticulously researched reproduction of the ORCA’s transom name from JAWS (1975).

The original letters were cut in 1974 by Martha’s Vineyard sculptor Travis Tuck from hot rolled steel. This edition has been engineered to match the original profile, scale, and hole placement, with dimensions verified against the surviving letters currently exhibited at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles.

Each set is cut from hot rolled mild steel and undergoes a controlled ageing process to develop a naturally weathered, screen-accurate patina. The oxidation evolves over several weeks before being stabilised and sealed in clear lacquer to preserve the character of the surface while preventing further corrosion.

The result is a faithful physical interpretation of one of cinema’s most recognisable vessel names — capturing the texture, weight, and presence of the original steel lettering.

Edition strictly limited to ten sets.

Each set is individually numbered, signed, and accompanied by an engraved display plaque indicating its edition number.

Production begins once the edition is reserved. Please allow approximately 4–6 weeks for completion due to the hand-finishing and controlled ageing process.

This is the only edition that will be produced in a fully hand-rusted and sealed finish.
